Virtual, Back-Office Planner
About this Role
We're seeking a Virtual, Back-Office Planner to support the core services we offer to advisory practices across the country. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient at analyzing client data, modeling the client’s case in financial planning software (usually eMoney), and developing actionable notes for the advisor. They would then be able to collaboratively discuss the case with the advisor for feedback and develop the appropriate scenarios, recommendations, and planning deliverables to position the advisor for a great meeting with their client.
This opportunity will begin as part-time, as-needed, 1099-contract work. Anticipated starting workload is 15-20 hours per week. However, an ideal candidate would be interested in growing their contribution over time with the goal of joining the team permanently and building a best-in-class solution for advisors.

Your contribution to the team
- Initial financial planning reviews:
- building financial plans in planning software using discussions with the advisor, meeting notes, and client source documents as reference
- creating case notes for internal reference
- creating data requests for further client data gathering
- Developing preliminary recommendations, opportunities and risks
- Managing due dates among multiple concurrent projects
- Communicating with advisors to understand their needs and meet their expectations
- Special planning/research projects (e.g. targeted reviews of employee benefits, tax strategies, education planning, etc.)
- Internal process development
Other Opportunities (depending on candidate’s strengths and interests)
- Writing financial plans using Outsourced Planning’s proprietary planning templates or advisor-provided deliverable templates
- Practice management consulting (tech-stack, planning process, planning deliverables, human capital management, fee structure, etc.)
- Business development and/or marketing efforts
- Direct, end-client coordination (working with advisors’ clients to onboard them with planning software, data gathering, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
- CFP® Certificant in good standing
- High level of proficiency using eMoney
- Organized and detail oriented
- Tech-savvy, able to learn new technology quickly
- Strong writing skills, ability to logically communicate concepts in written form
- Strong verbal communication
- Collaborative, team-player mindset – a passion for working to solve problems, provide awesome service, and have fun
- A passion for comprehensive financial planning and strong desire to do good for the families our clients serve
- 15+ hours/week average starting availability
- Ability to start in the next two months
- Desire to grow into this position as your primary professional home (ideally, not launching your own RIA or other business)
Compensation Structure
- 1099 contractor arrangement to start with potential to grow into W-2 employee and/or partner over time
